P.S. If you’re actively running a business, I've got something special for you at the bottom. Keep reading. Something to make you think:"You don't need to sound smart. You don't need to look cool. You just need to take action. When people get stuck and desperately want to get out, they wonder what to do. They spend so much time wondering what to do that they become even more stuck. Yet, the answer is right there in front of them. Action. It's always action." Something to make you act.One of the most successful sales and marketing strategies I've seen used in recent times is The Event Trojan Horse. It's an incredible way to acquire customers, build incredible brand reputation and value, and generate leads at an insane scale - especially for £10K+ products. It works like this:
The higher ticket the product, the more effective this strategy is. Think large ad campaigns, long time accounting contracts, or exclusive coaching. Don't use this method to sell consumables, clothing, etc. 2. Choose an event format Some great examples are: Close knit, limited availability masterminds; Large scale, mass appeal speaking events; Conferences; Trade Shows. Focus on choosing a format that fits your industry best, and also works to you and your company's advantage. 3. Plan and launch an event people actually want to go to This sounds stupid, "well yeah of course." But a lot of people get this wrong. They host an event with their people only and then get surprised when nobody shows up. You need an incentive. Incentives can be:
There are plenty of other strategies, these are just a few. But remember - make it so useful, incredible, and appealing that people feel stupid not going. 4. Make your brand the centrepoint of the event. Have your name as sponsors in easily visible locations. Make sure that you are the host for the evening. The person introducing the speakers. The person greeting people as they show up. The person who introduces people to each other. The person who is THE person to talk to. When you position yourself like this, you become an authority in the industry. The kind of person that people think "oh yeah that's NAME - they're THE person to talk to about XYZ." That's the spot you need to be in. 5. Set future meetings at the event While you're talking with people, get commitments to talk again in the future. No, you don't need to blast Calendly links to everyone. But you should be, in conversation, saying things like "yeah I can take a look at XYZ, you free later this week?" Get those verbal commitments, then follow up hard. (Step 6) 6. Follow up and sell hard Have a very robust follow up process in place. If you set verbal meetings, send emails and texts to them confirming the meeting, along with a meeting invite, and a short agenda about what will be discussed. Do the work for them. If you did not set a meeting, send them a thank you follow up. Then another email sharing photos from the evening, or free resources that may interest people. Then finally, a direct response follow up, book an email, book a call, etc. Once you have won people over with personality, experience, and value - it's 100x easier to get them to commit to a call than it is sending them a random cold email or call. I've seen events like these directly result in the closing of 6-figure ad campaigns. They work. So, if you're selling high ticket services, experiences, or products - I urge you to seriously consider this. This is a high ticket, money-printing Cheatcode. Use it. Reader, This week has been a reminder: we don’t have forever. And because of that I really want to encourage you to go for it. Whatever 'it' looks like for you whether it's making your first hire, quitting that job, going on that date...taking that holiday. Just do it. Something to make you think: I’ve actually been thinking about Steve Jobs lately. Do you remember his final note before he died? “At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realise that all the...
Morning, Hope you’ve had an amazing week, smashing goals and setting the bar higher. So… my product launch is finally behind us, and I’ve been doing some reflecting (as always 😅). Some things went really well, and others… well, let’s just say they went hilariously sideways. Like, the kind of wrong you have to laugh at or you’ll cry. But hey, that’s also the game, right? In the spirit of celebrating both the wins and the “what-was-that-even?” moments, I’ve got something special for you this...
P.S. If you’re actively running a business, I've got something special for you at the bottom. Keep reading. Something to make you think: "How to deal with toxic people. Keep the conversation neutral. Keep the conversation brief. Keep the conversation superficial. They don't need more information. They don't need more fuel. They don't need your vulnerability. Keep the good stuff for those you trust." Something to make you act. The other day, one of you stopped me in the street - (Shoutout...
