CheatCode #32: What is the root cause of anxiety?

Something to make you think:

"The path does not close for him who steps back."

Admitting your mistakes and changing course keeps doors open to you.

Pivot. Adapt. React. Improve.

Progress isn't linear.

(P.S. If you liked this proverb, you should read this one I shared earlier in the week)

Something to make you act:

This week I set myself and a couple of friends a challenge.

To create a business in 8 hours.

Tactically this included:

  • A working product.
  • A landing page & funnel.
  • A marketing & distribution plan.

All of us knew it wasn't realistic to make a fully fledged, perfect, highly optimised business in just 8 hours.

But the progress the three of us made was very significant.

Why am I telling this story?

Well, this idea was built a niche I'd bee deliberating for a long time - yet I kept pushing it back.

"No that's not the right idea."

"Not the right time."

and it was this inaction that was causing some anxiety and frustration.

Everyone knew the niche was right, we just kept kicking the can down the road.

So, the only way to solve this was through action.

And there's a valuable lesson in this.

"Fear and inaction are the root cause of anxiety and frustration."

If you're anxious about something, or frustrated at your situation, there's a very real chance you can solve both of those problems through action.

So my takeaway to you this week is:

  • If you're anxious about money - Start that side hustle.
  • If you're frustrated at your job level - Ask for that promotion.
  • If you're anxious about your weight - Do a 15 minute walk.
  • If you're frustrated at your skill level - Start that book.

Whatever it is you have going on - no matter how big or small - take 1 step towards it this week.

Just 1 step.

You'll be amazed at how quickly that 1 step turns into 2, and 3.

Remember: Action cures anxiety.

P.S. I'm hiring for several full time positions right now & if you're spending time reading this newsletter, you're probably the type of person I'd like to speak to.

I'm hiring for:

  • A social media manager (Has to be based in London)
  • A copywriter ( Can be from anywhere)
  • A funnel builder & landing page designer (Preferably based in London)

If you think you're a great fit for one of these roles, reply to this email with the job title you want in the subject line, and 3 of your biggest achievements.

Try to make these achievements relevant to the role, but if you have something unrelated, yet truly exceptional - please do include it!

Timo.

Reader, This week has been a reminder: we don’t have forever. And because of that I really want to encourage you to go for it. Whatever 'it' looks like for you whether it's making your first hire, quitting that job, going on that date...taking that holiday. Just do it. Something to make you think: I’ve actually been thinking about Steve Jobs lately. Do you remember his final note before he died? “At this moment, lying on the sick bed and recalling my whole life, I realise that all the...

Morning, Hope you’ve had an amazing week, smashing goals and setting the bar higher. So… my product launch is finally behind us, and I’ve been doing some reflecting (as always 😅). Some things went really well, and others… well, let’s just say they went hilariously sideways. Like, the kind of wrong you have to laugh at or you’ll cry. But hey, that’s also the game, right? In the spirit of celebrating both the wins and the “what-was-that-even?” moments, I’ve got something special for you this...

P.S. If you’re actively running a business, I've got something special for you at the bottom. Keep reading. Something to make you think: "You don't need to sound smart. You don't need to look cool. You just need to take action. When people get stuck and desperately want to get out, they wonder what to do. They spend so much time wondering what to do that they become even more stuck. Yet, the answer is right there in front of them. Action. It's always action." Something to make you act. One of...
